220808 Three strikes and you’re out

Thanks to mycomics.com

I’m not a consistent follower of baseball teams, but the game has one rule that helps me stay close to reality. “Three strikes and you’re out.”

All politicians are forced, by us, to lie, well at least fib a little. The biggest error a politician can make is to alienate voters by giving an opinion that voters don’t like. Voters want excellent roads, free services, great schools and of course lower taxes. Who says that adults don’t believe in fantasies.

I expect a candidate to be smart, be able to speak about their policies and be able to cooperate with other politicians no matter the party. I look at what they stand for, not the cut of their clothing. I’ve even voted for politicians I didn’t like if they seemed the best for the job. I don’t have to have a beer with them.

I look for candidates lying in their press releases and ads. These are deliberate acts, not a slip of the tongue. When Donald Trump said that his inauguration crowd was the biggest ever, I compared old pictures. Nope, wasn’t even close. That’s strike #1. After several weeks I lost count. Once you learn that a person is a liar, there is no need to listen further unless you want to play the fool. I’ve known many straight ticket voters, who don’t want to wear out their brains by thinking.

Here’s in interesting fact. I wonder if it means anything?

Calvin seems so wise for his years.
